We always need help in several areas of rescue work:
Foster homes
People who can assess and train dogs. Typically people with first hand experience
with Airedales who as puppies love to chew, escape and explore. If you are loving,
patient and understand setting limits on animals, then please
contact us.
A typical experience for a foster parent is an evaluation of the dog over one to
three months. Your evaluation of the dog concerns attitude toward children and other
dogs, crate and house training, ability to travel, walk on a leash and be an "only"
dog or part of a crowd. In addition, the dog may come to you needing grooming, vet
care and/or neutering. You will meet with a volunteer in your home to explain the
process. All approved expenses to bring the dog up to date will be covered by the
group.
Airedale Underground Railroad
People who transport dogs within a two hour radius of their home. You will receive
in email from the person arranging transport. If you respond with your available
days and time, you will receive a confirming email. Each volunteer helping that
day will call the next person on the list to arrange a specific meeting time and
place. Often we exchange cell phone numbers to facility an easy transfer. No expenses
are reimbursed.
Administrative Volunteers
We have a need for people to talk to:
- prospective families who want to adopt,
- people who are giving up their dogs to rescue,
- people who can do home visits to verify fencing, space and desire for adoption
Let us know your interest by contacting us. Thanks for
considering helping these special dogs.
