Steps to Adopt An Airedale

We welcome applications to adopt an Airedale from residents of Alabama, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Tennessee.

If you live outside our area, our national affiliate provides a list of regional Airedale rescues in the US and Canada.

The Process

Once your application is received, it is assigned to a volunteer for review.  The volunteer will arrange a time to speak with you, verify references and veterinary information and if a candidate to adopt recommend a home visit.

The home visit is the chance for a volunteer to meet with you in person, meet other animals in the home, see the yard and ask any further questions.   It is also a time for the applicant to ask any questions of the volunteer.  In rare cases, the home visit is completed by FaceTime or video.

Once the home visit is complete, the applicant will be advised if approved to adopt or not.  An approved adopter is placed on our wait list and notified by email when a dog may be a good fit for their home.

The Dogs

Dogs are often in the surrendering owner's home but may be in foster care or boarding.   It is not usually possible for dogs to be met before transport to a new home. A foster period of 2 weeks is often done to ensure a good fit for the dog and home.

Dogs are adopted under a legal contract between the new owner and Airedale Rescue Group.  An adoption fee is charged.
